Kahu Kayaks sea kayaking crew

Go kayaking along the Abel Tasman coastline in New Zealand with our knowledgeable team of kayakign experts.

Andrew McFarlandAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksAndrew

Nickname: Stuntman
Andrew or Andy is 'Mr-fix-it' here at Kahu Kayaks. If it’s broken we take it to him to cast his ever vigilant eye over it, then when he’s not looking we whip into town and have it fixed properly. Andy has been kayaking for years, drives the boat and is always quick with a joke. Not a bad team member, really.

Kristin HewittAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksKristin

Nickname: Ssshhh here she comes
Like a greatly decorated military leader Kristin organizes us throughout the day with precision. It’s most likely to be Kristin that answers your emails or telephone calls. She does seem a little bossy always telling us what to do, but the days at Kahu do seem to run a whole lot smoother when she is here.

Abel Tasman Kahu Kayaks

Lucas HomesAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksEthan

Nickname: Easy E
With the hint of an accent this kiwi resident has seen the light and moved himself to our little corner of the Globe. Easy E is a super friendly nice guy, and talk about laid back, some times I think it's a struggle sometimes for this boy to sit upright in his kayak.

Lucas HomesAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksLucas

Nickname: Mucus
For the first 2 weeks he was here we called him Marcus, he didn’t seem to find that a problem. We think he was just happy someone was talking to him. Lucas seems to be a great bloke, far more conscientious than most of us here at Kahu. His Kayaking skills are top notch and he makes a mean brew.

Gary MillerAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksGary

Nickname: Gazzmatron
The Gazzmatron is quite a knowledgeable man, with a lot of kayaking experience, though with his 1st child on the way we are guessing there is still a whole lot more learning for this boy. The Gazzmatron is pretty much here working everyday to put some money in the bank for all those nappies.

Bridget KrugerAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksBridget

Nickname: the Krugerant
Every Circus needs a clown, and we found one that doesn’t frown, When Bridget is not working she can be found juggling, doing back flips or practicing on her uni cycle, I personally would of spent a few more dollars and just brought one with 2 wheels. We borrowed Bridget is from across the Tasman, but we are happy to have her.

Stefan AustinAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksStefan

Nickname: Russell Crowe
I think it’s the beard that makes Stef look just like the Gladiator, but unlike Russell Crowe, Stef has been recently voted the 2nd nicest person in the whole of New Zealand. Stef conducted the survey himself and his girlfriend Jo, his Mum as well as his little brother, cast the only 3 votes.

Stephen HailesAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksStephen

Nickname: Gobble
A few years ago people looking for Stephen would be directed to the pie warmer at Kaiteriteri Store. Having turned over a new leaf of fitness, he can now be found teaching people how to kayak and how to see the Abel Tasman from places other than the pie warmer. Stephen has sent out more people than most into the park and they have all come back.

Joey the goatAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksJoseph the Goat

Nickname: Joey
Joey is the youngest member of the team and probably the most useless. Although his kayaking ability leaves a lot to be desired, he is good with the ladies and can often be found hanging out under the willow tree or doing renovations to his 2-bedroom house. (He’s very proud of it)

Brett IrvineAbel Tasman Kahu KayaksBrett

Nickname: Bretto
From the deep south, Bretto is a self confessed ladies man, lucky for the rest of the male population Bretto is not so good with the fairer sex. He is however very good at making up stories and bogus facts, I can’t help but feel this hides the fact he knows nothing about the actual national park.

We're the NUMBER 1 ranked Abel Tasman kayak experience . . .
